On behalf of the reunion committee, thank you to all the alumni who have posted an entry in this guestbook. Thanks also for the many gracious comments posted after the reunion. My role in the centennial reunion was to create and maintain this website and it has been my pleasure and honour to do so. This guestbook shows how important our school years are to us. It was great to celebrate those times during the reunion weekend and to reconnect with friends. Tiger pride is alive and well!

Thank you to all volunteers, teachers and students that volunteered their time to make this reunion great. It was nice to see so many old friends, associates and relatives. My Mom Freda was there in 1933. My sisters Mollie & Lorraine attended till 1968 when the family (but me) moved to Detroit Michigan. I have lived in Calgary for 34 years now but would love to hear from anyone who knew me back then. Long life, good health and prosperity to all of you. I am still in awe of our fabulous, unforgettable reunion. It was wonderful to get together with friends, family, teachers, neighbours, you name it, even strangers who are now new friends! I am especially fortunate to have shared this marvelous experience with my brother, Myron, class of 1967, and our Mother, Gladys (Pearlman) Love, class of 1935. Thank you so much to that army of volunteers who made it. happen. Thank you to the visionaries who made a commitment 5 years ago. Thanks to the sudents and staff who served as ushers in the school, who directed traffic in the parking lot and served refreshments. Thnks to whoever arranged for tranportation( the shuttle from the Shopping Centre). Thanks to the entertainers at the school events and at the Gala. I can keep going on and on. Most of all, when I stood with everyone at the closing ceremony and (with pride and tears in my eyes) sang "Jerusalem", led by Richard Yaffee and the Alumni Choir, I thank my lucky stars for being a St. John's Alumnus!

The whole Reunion was a fabulous success. The organizers pulled off a miraculous achievement and need to be commended. Thanks to all of you. It was especially nice to reconnect with an old friend and neighbour (Harold Abosh). Again Burton Cummings was extrodinary and for sure, a world class performance. thank you again for giving me to attend this event. I will never forget it.

The St.John's Reunion was a huge success, thank you to all the volunteers who worked so very hard. It was wonderful to see so many friends from the past, and this reunion out did the 75th reunion. The high lite of the whole evening was our Super Star Burton Cummings. He put on one of his best shows ever, his music came from his heart. I went to school at the same time as Burton, he was at the time going out with a friend of mine Evelyn Cook. I would have liked to get to know Burton better but he had his own circle of friends. He was the 100th St. John's Reunion, without his performance the evening would not have been the success it was. I found it quite amazing the amount of classmates that now live in other provinces, and some in the States. We all follow different paths, and it is nice to see how many friends are happy. I looked for a friend at the Reunion for two hours, while looking for Joanne Harrison I met many other old classmates that had also been at the 75th Reunion. It is nice as now we are all getting older that we are all so young at heart. I saw some friends that used to go to Teen Dance Party with me and yes we can all still dance. The Centennial Reunion was awesome and very emotional for me as I got to reunite with some of my class mates and had a great time at Club 13, Green Brier, the Social, and closing ceremonies and some memorable pictures. Seeing a few of my teachers were the best! I hope to see a reunion for the class of 76 in 2011 and hope some of our teaches can attend. A job well done by all of the organizers for the Centennial Reunion and thanks to all of the sponsors.

I have a special comment about the Reunion Gala; that being it was one of the most memorable nights of my life. Everything was perfect - from the reception, to the dinner, to the entertainment (Cummings was spectacular!!) to reconnecting with so many old friends and all of the past and new memories that I shall cherish always. Being there with 2 very special friends whom I have known since junior high school was a real treat. To those who organized this Reunion, KUDOS!! To those who attended, terrific school spirit!!

Kudos to the staff and volunteers of St.John's reunion...a job well done. I enjoyed the four days, visiting with former friends and schoolmates. I was able to reunite with people from 40 yrs ago, and we have had coffee at the North-end Sals to reacquaint. Thanks again...for the education in scholastics and life.

Nice comments. How about the not so nice. On the first day I was waiting in line for my package and had two men make racist comments to me,because I was in a hurry. One man said,"she probably has a cab waiting(referring to the fact many First Nations use taxis for transportation)and the other who was an Alumnus volunteer who was handing out nametags (good choice for morale, people)replied,"can you sit crosslegged). What if I had made a Holocaust remark or a tatoo remark. Nice to know racism is alive and well and rampant at St.John`s. I bet this won`t be published in your guest book!! I plan to email it to the newspapers however.

Enjoyed every minute at the dinner and the school on Sunday. What really stood out for me was that the atomoshere had such a positive charge; everyone was happy and excited. It was wonderful to see so many of my old, I mean former, friends, many from elementary school days at Champlain. Looking forward to keeping the new connections. The Reunion Committee members are to be congratulated!! You outdid yourselves to provide memories that we shall treasure and will last our lifetime! I attended and enjoyed every event that was planned and met so many "Tigers". I hope the DVD of the Opening and Closing Ceremonies will be made available for purchase. A big thank-you to the reunion comittee...WOW what a weekend! I came to Winnipeg fully aware that it would be an experience, but not sure of what would come out of this. There was no question we would all be different people. It's been 28 years of different jobs, different careers, and in some cases, different spouses. 28 years with new friends, kids, successes and failures. 28 years of different experiences. I'm grateful that I'll not remember any of you as a yearbook picture. I'm thankful that fuzzy old memories have been replaced with new VIVID ones. I leave knowing that i can still party until 4 am. Miles may separate us but nothing can separate us as sealess friends.To all my classmates! Life is good!!

The party's been over for a week, and I now believe that the new laugh lines on my face are permanently etched. A small price to pay for four days and nights of fun with old pals. Sadly, some from the class of '67 were there only in the hearts of their friends (Mildred Cheslock, Ken Kidd and Chuck Boreski to name a few). Fantastic reunion! It was great to see so many people out - old friends and teachers, too. It's so hard to believe that high school was that many years ago. Mrs. Thexton has not changed a bit since she taught biology back in the day! And Burton is still rocking on. So very many memorable moments - finally seeing Lance Lesack again after way too many years since we all used swim Friday night's at North Y! Looking at Greg Osinchuk's football jacket - that's the jacket that 'the boys' wore so proudly!! And also seeing Tash and George Arambasich and wishing Lorrie was still with us..... I am so proud to have been a student at the best school in Winnipeg and to have met so many wonderful people that helped to shape my life. Please keep in touch!

Like many i had planned not to attend the sjhs centennial reunion 2010...but an old friend kept encouraging me & i am so happy that he did attend...from the coffee house on thur, the social on fri, the gala on sat, the pancake breakfast & bbq on sun, class photos and the blow out closing ceromonies on sunday with music, choir, & guest/honorary speakers the organisers should walk with their heads held high...if you missed this one then you really blew it!

Wow! What can I say? The reunion activities were outstanding, thank you so much to all the hard work of the various planning committees,volunteers, the entertainment (Darryl Clayton and Bed of Roses at the social, Burton rocking the gala, Colleen Savage, the list goes on)! I can't even decide what was my favourite aspect of the four days, and I will cherish the photos and the memories always. GREAT TURNOUT FROM THE CLASS OF 85!!!

I only managed to attend the St. John's Open House but a great job to all those who made the event happen. It was neat to see everyone reunite with each other and to see how proud everyone was to have graduate from a wonderful school. I had a wonderful time at all the activities that I went to. I am so glad that I went to the Gala on Saturday to meet more people I knew & to be entertained by such a fantastic caliber of entertainers! I am a teacher now & keep telling students how important yearbooks are. I discovered on the Thursday night that I work with a student who graduated the same year I did, but I never knew her at that time! The organization committee definitely gets two thumbs up for this celebration.

Wow wasn't that a party. That was the best 4 days I have spent in many years. All of you organizers deserve a standing ovation, as that was first class all the way. Seeing so many of the old gang brought many fond memories flooding back that I will always cherrish. This event has given me the opportunity to renew some good friendships and I will not wait another 25 years to get together with you all. Anita and I will make our yearly trip to Winnipeg and also to B.C. to see everyone. Of course we will see the boys in Calgary on a regular basis. A special thanks to Burton Cummings, it was great hashing old times with you. Rock on pal. Thanks again to everyone you made my decade.

My Son, and Mother, Verna (class of '39) were at the Gala. Sorry to have missed the actual days as I was at a Conference in Montreal. Amazing that Monty Hall made time for us on such short notice. Monty, your look FABULOUS! Burton Cummings was FANTASTIC! I remember Kenny Kostick from my year as a young gentleman, and it did not surprise me to hear that he was such a gracious host. Glad to have contributed as much as I could. Hope we can leave a real legacy of financial contributions that would assist ongoing students in programs, tutors, and meeting their dreams like we have met ours. I have not seen so many smiling faces at any event from the upbeat pulse of the social, emotional speech given by Monty Hall, and the magic of Burton Cumming's voice. Hi there, I just wanted to congratulate the entire committee for a fantastic event. Been part of both the Saskatoon Business community, and the Saskatoon Charities and non profit community I have attended a number of events of similar magnitude in cities such as Saskatoon, Regina, Toronto and Edmonton, and I can honestly say that the St.Johns extravaganza was every bit as well done than any that I have been privy to. I had a blast at the reunion. I met so many past, present and new friends, relatives, fellow students, teachers and St. John's High School staff. I was amazed. The party started for me with lunch at Oscars with friends on Wednesday at noon and ended with friends and Burton Cummings and The Carpet Frogs at the Pony Coral on Pembina Highway at midnight on Sunday evening. Sure wish I could have been there! Was planning to attend with my brother Laurie Diamond and his wife Peggy (Dryden), also St.John alumni,who both, sadly, passed away within the past 2 years.And a recent job change and move to Arizona put an end to my attending the reunion.I left Wpg. after graduating from U of M as an Occupational Therapist, moved to Wisconsin to join my then fiance,now husband of 44 years,moved to San Francisco area in '80 and to Tucson, Az. last year.Still working as an OT, mother of 2 daughters and grandmother of one teenaged boy!I do get back to Wpg. occasionally to visit family and friends. My favorite memories of St.John's are running for Sophomore Queen (Toby Starr won), French class with Mr. Manushin,being scolded by Mr.Dack for whispering in class (well, maybe that wasn't such a good memory!), and the packaged apple turnovers at the lunch canteen in the basement - and I still love sweets !! I'd love to hear from any "old classmates" that remember me !

What a great time. Ann and I had a the best time. She flew in from Calgary On Thursday. And we never stopped until closing ceremonies. What a great social. Danced so much, could walk the next day! 1977 & 1978 closed that place. Rock on! The gala was unbelievable. Burton, fantastic, and thanks for the great performance1 you did us proud. Perhaps most high schools had similar experiences and opportunities. I don't know. But I can't imagine any other group of students feeling about their school as we have and still do. What a great weekend! I brought my whole family from Calgary to show them a good time in Winnipeg and the weekend did not disappoint. Although the North End looks a little rougher, I am so proud to be from there. The social was a blast and the gala was amazing! Monty Hall had us laughing and crying and Burton was phenomenal. It was fantastic to reconnect with both classmates and teachers at this well organized and fun event. My husband is from Nova Scotia but he can't stop talking about the weekend either. Kudos for a job well done!

Regrets...didn't find out about this reunion till June 17,2010. It would be nice to reunite with some of the familiar names (after 43 years I am sure the faces aren't going to look too "familiar" anymore!!). ...and the teachers, Mr. Pastick, Mr. Wilson, Mr. Kahana,...and the "great Orator" Mr. Ben Hanuschak (great memories!). Glad to see that some of the old classmates are still out there along with the famous Burton. I don't know if you remember how handsome and romantic you were about 45 years ago. And what could have been more romantic and story book than you inviting me to the small auditorium, when nobody else was there, and singing a song from Man of LaMancha as I looked down adoringly. Maybe you don't recall passing notes to me - in French! in the halls, or me playing the star-crossed Ophelia in a parody of Hamlet. How sweet and silly it all was. All these years later, my high school years remain an important and special time in my life. I met some people who are still close friends to this day. I loved being part of the musicals, and playing the tuba in the band. Mr. George was my inspiration. I've spent the last 30 years teaching music to kids in grades 1 to 8 in Toronto. Good memories of the St. John's band travelling to local elementary schools to perform, with me and my tuba in the back of Mr. George's station wagon. Two teachers that I remember fondly was Mrs Rocky (Home Ec) and Miss Owens (Eng/Lit). Drama club,folk music group,choir,ballroom dancing in PT class (white bloomer shorts & top), being introduced to chips and gravy at the drug store, running club on the 3rd floor in the hall after school. Winning the High School Drama Festival for the production of the "Wall", the boys football team performing "Duck Pond" at the school concert. Gals being allowed to wear pants to scholl but NO JEANS ! My goodness times have changed. So many great moments and with a group of great schoolmates. I went on to RRCC and became an LPN then into the Military Medical Services (Navy) for 23 years. Returned to Winnipeg in 1999 after being away for 27 years. Miss some of the old haunts but we still have our memories. Wishing you all a wonderful reunion. Go Tigers !!

My mom Sadie Singer and my father Ron Ross also attended St. John's Tech as well as my brothers Glen Ross, Ken Ross, my sisters Susan Ross and Marnie Ross. Lots of excellent as well as poignant memories. Smoking in the girls room; the staff lounge air could be cut with a knife, no jeans until grade 10 and the all girls class of Ms. Tiplitski 1967. Monsieur Monsieur the French teacher and Mr. Wilson the Latin teacher. Mr. Dmytryshyn who would fail you in you did not learn how to spell his name and Mr. Margolis-what a wonderful man. The Canada/Russian hockey game that was played over the P. A. and the wonderful arts, sports and music programs. Ballroom dancing was mandatory and I still recall the steps today. The new typewriters in grade 11 that were the size of todays' laptops (everyone wanted to use them), the orange and brown uniforms, the gym shorts with the elastic legs (mandatory for gym), the sock hops and the serious dances (where all the girls and guys danced in lines). The dreaded report cards and the impatience of waiting over the summer to see who would be in your class in September. Yes, the memories run deep. My best wishes to all that have touched my life.

Best years of my life with friends and school! My first loves were Kathy Summers and Jean Terrick. Walks to and from school were always a riot, had so many good laughs. I loved to stop in at Kelekis Brothers', Miracle Bakery and of course the Salisbury House. Best friends were and always will be Kathy Summers, Jean Terrick, Audrey Gibbons, Stephen Patrick, Jean Martin, Jim Green, Wayne Tokar, Michael Hanna, Lana and Lydia Hekachuk. Favorite teachers were Helen Kwiatkoski, Susan Teplitski, Barbara Pawlyschyn, Mrs Manusow, Mr Cochrane. Saddest thing I rember was Rebby Victor getting accidently shot and died in the house behind me off Machray Avenue. I have lived all over Canada working with a major airline for over 33 years. I am presently and happily working in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. It would be wonderful to have the opportunity to attend, we"ll see what happens. God Bless!

I'm really looking forward to the reunion. I have tickets for all of the events. I graduated from St. John's in 1969, then graduated from the U. of M. in Civil Engineering in 1973, then became a Bridge Design Engineer and then became the Chief Bridge Design Engineer for the Province of Manitoba and then retired at 55, in 2006. Whew, I knew the time flew by but that was really quick. I now walk the love of our life (our dog Miracle, THEE Black Lab) in three countries, travel a lot, try to sell lots in our proposed lakefront cottage development at Middle Lake, Ontario, attend Calvary Temple Church, play my guitars, read a lot, play tennis when I can, do coffee and dinners with my wife and friends and generally find I have no spare time. I treasure the wonderful teachers I had at St. John's. They did care. I'm sorry I gave some of them such a hard time. Especially Mr. Manishen. I still use his French lessons though. I wish I could appologize to him but its too late for that. I smile too thinking of those teachers who really needed some help. In hindsight they were all great people and I still see many friends from 1963 to 1969. They were the absolute best years to be in school and to enjoy The Beatles who were just four boys starting out in a band. They were the model for us all. I still kick myself for having and selling their real autographs for $5 to Lydia H. I did need cash though to buy my first guitar so it was worth it. Well enough about me. I hope to see a lot of friends and familiar faces and have some fun and enjoy Burton again (especially doing Devron songs - remember Burton singing a cover of The Yardbird's "Smokestack Lightning"? I was a product of Machray school leading to St Johns. In 1985 my wife Anita and I rode into Winnipeg on our tandem bicycle. We had taken the Yellowhead high way from Edmonton. Our bike carried all luggsge for the 10 day trip. We have been planning this trip for the past 25 years. I left winnipeg 1955 and ended up retired from Los Angeles County Fire Department. My close friend from St. Johns Bob Wazny retired from Winnipeg Fire Department the same year. We have been in content contact for the past 55 years!!

Wanted to attend but somehow missed the 75th , planning on attending the upcoming 100th. Wow the sands of time have spilled quickly, and it seems the winds have spread our classmates around the world. Yes a few are still seen regularly. I fondly remember those simpler times, we had less but this did not prevent great times. I remember teachers that were still not afraid to dish out discipline. Now how many math classes now days have flying math books sent flying by the math teacher? Well needless to say I did well in math. Yet in this very same math class out came the radio and we experienced the Paul Henderson goal. Ever see a math teacher jump, so did everyone else. And what school ever had such a problem with alumni hanging around the entrances smoking and running committee meetings? Also the streets around the school had a better representation of muscle cars than the Barrett Jackson does now. The streets around St Johns' didn't even need repaving or any repair as there was always so much rubber laying around from burnouts. Also as some of the other alumni mentioned physical education was serious business (anyone ever get kicked out of physed these days?) that is even if you get any physed these days in high school . You were pushed to be fit (hey anyone really like military fitness, well not at first anyway) and be pushed to dance in physed, but hey yes some of those early moves still come back. Well somehow with less resources St Johns' did manage to give us a fairly rounded education, and many fabulous relationships and a lot of fond memories. Looking forward to see you all.

Ahhh, the '80s. A highlight was winning the airband competition, at the grand conclusion of spirit week in 1988, with Bubba, Salim, Mark, and Chel (I think I'm missing a couple of others.) We beat out Bonnie Pettigrew, Jane Swanton and friends (as the Four Tops if memory serves me) with our rendition of the Honey Dripper's, Good Rockin' At Midnight. The best part is that we didn't practice once while the ladies practice for weeks! All I did was provide each of the "band members" a audio cassette with the song and the basic instruction, "Learn your part." Good times.

I enjoyed attending St. Johns from grade 7 to 12 (1965 to 1971). I had a number of good friends at St. Johns, but over the years have lost touch with them. Attended the U of W after graduating from St. Johns - B. Ed. (but never ended up teaching). I sill live in Winnipeg. I was on the track team and football team - coaches Mr. Cochrane/Mr. Pastuck (track) and Mr. Humniski and Mr. Hinkle (football). Too bad about the teachers strike in my last year = no year book. But, I do have the grade 10 and 11 ones. I was just going over them about a month ago, and then I accidentally came across this site (I was looking up St. Johns phone number on-line - part of my job is contacting the school for information on students). I have very good memories at St. John's. One teacher that impressed me the most was Ms. Snyder. She was my English teacher and taught me very well. I became a legal secretary in Minneapolis, MN (where I moved to in 1958)and the way she taught us English with her rules stood me well in my career. I am very grateful to her. I also was very involved in athletics at St. John's. That was what I missed the most when I graduated.

St. John's became a home for me because of the incredible staff members and students I worked with over my career. I have been involved with the reunion committee from the beginning and created the idea of the Centennial Alumni Wall to honor the staff & students of St. John's. I have lots of great memories of Social Dance classes, Canoe & Backpacking Trips as well as those Rocky Mountain Experiences and many other. As a kid from the wrong side of the "tracks", I was amazed to be in the major work class at St John's. Best friends included John Paskievich, who I remember set off rockets in his backyard. Way cool for the time. Burton Cummings was in a class or two of mine but was pretty shy, despite the girls waiting for him outside, and that he was already a well-known singer for the Devrons and the Guess Who.

I missed the '75th reunion due to a family illness and have been sorry ever since! My brother Bernie attended St. John's 15 years prior to me, but we both had Mr. Johnson as our home room teacher! I was never a good student, but a Geography and a Math teacher, both yearly substitutes carried me forward. My last year in Mr. Beer's room was memorable. We loved him - but still drove him crazy! Was at St. Johns for Gr. 7/8 but moved to Calgary in early grade 9 (1980). Didn't get to hang out long but always talked about how much fun it was at the school. Seen Burton do the CBC special in the big gym back at that time too. Yea, I ended up in the office and got strapped on the hand and later my my math teacher too. Hmm. Cant remember his name now but I remember he was a good teacher aside from the strap!! hahahaha. Still good memories. Hope to be around Wpg for the show(s).

One of my funniest memories of high school is; my girlfriend Dianne (Kanchir) and I thought it would be hillarious to lock our friend Katie (Dziawa) in our locker and leave her there while we went to class! It was, until Mr Osterman came to get us out of class to "RELEASE THAT YOUNG GIRL IMMEDIATELY !!!!!" LOL!!!! We all still laugh about that one. One of my favorite memories of St. John's was Mr. McAllister's Grade 9 history class -- The Story of Nations?? He treated us to stories on Friday afternoons last period -- if we had worked hard during the week. Ha! he loved to read out loud and looked for excuses to drop the history and start a story.
